The Citation 560, Citation Ultra and Citation Encore are the largest straight wing members of Cessna's Citation family; the fastest and farthest flying jets with the type certificate of the original Citation 500.
The Cessna Citation 560 is a stretched Citation 550 powered by two 2,900 lb Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D5A turbofans - the stretch allows seating in standard configuration for up to eight passengers. A preproduction prototype flew in early 1986 and the first engineering prototype made its maiden flight in August 1987. The Citation 560 was announced at the NBAA convention later that year, US certification was granted on 9 December, 1988 and deliveries commenced in April 1987 until mid 1994.
The upgraded Citation V Ultra was announced in September 1993 and FAA certification was granted in June 1994. It features 3,045 lbf P&W JT15D5D engines and Honeywell Primus 1000 EFIS avionics. It was produced until 1999.
The Citation Encore was announced in 1998. Powered by 3,360 lb PW535A turbofans and with an updated interior and systems, it offers less fuel capacity but greater range than the Ultra. The reduction in fuel tank size allowed Cessna to fit soft-landing, trailing link main landing gear. The Encore was certified in April 2000 and deliveries commenced in September 2000.
The Citation Encore+ was manufactured from 2007 through to early 2010, having been certified by the FAA in December 2006. The Encore+ adds FADEC controlled PW535B engines and Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics. Its weight increased by 200 lb and, typically equipped, it can haul a 850–1,170 lb payload with full fuel. It can fly with one pilot but most are operated with two.
560 Citation V is a Citation S/II with longer fuselage and newer JT15D engines, evolved into Ultra with addition of EFIS, and Ultra Encore/Encore+ with PW535 engines
