StandardAero celebrates decades of P&WC engine support
For 50 years, StandardAero has been supporting Pratt & Whitney Canada’s JT15D turbofan engine family, and for the past 20 has maintained its PW300 and PW500 engines.
StandardAero engine service centres have been sustaining the life of P&WC powerplants for decades.

Engine aftermarket services provider StandardAero is celebrating 50 years of supporting Pratt & Whitney Canada’s JT15D turbofan engine family, and 20 years of supporting the PW300 and PW500 turbofan engines.

“Our team’s dedication to upholding Pratt & Whitney Canada’s high-quality service and support reinforces why P&WC has continued to turn to StandardAero engine service centres to sustain the life of its powerplants for decades,” says Tony Brancato, president of StandardAero’s business aviation division.

Best known as the powerplant for the Citation I/II/V/Ultra and Hawker Beechjet 400 business jets, the JT15D has also powered a number of trainer aircraft, demonstrators and unmanned aerial vehicles over the past five decades, with more than 6,700 engines produced.

In 1974, Dallas Airmotive, which was acquired by StandardAero in 2021, was appointed as a P&WC Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) for the JT15D turbofan, the initial JT15D-1 variant of which had received Canadian certification three years prior.

Today, StandardAero supports the JT15D engine family from its overhaul location in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada, which commenced work on the type in 2002. Operators are also able to benefit from access to 10 service centre locations in the US, Brazil, the UK, Singapore and Australia. StandardAero’s JT15D service offerings include the VMAX pay-per-hour support programme, which delivers peace of mind through a predictable, no surprises engine maintenance expense guarantee. StandardAero also provides engine condition trend monitoring (ECTM) services for the JT15D family, as a CAMP Systems Designated Analysis Center (DAC).

StandardAero is proud to support the global JT15D operator community with cost-effective maintenance, repair and overhaul support for this popular powerplant,” says Jeff Poirier, vice president and general manager of the turboprops and fleets business unit. “With over 2,000 JT15D-powered aircraft still in service, StandardAero’s network of engine facilities ensures that operators are still able to depend on a reliable source of engine MRO, both today and tomorrow.”

In 2004, Dallas Airmotive became the first independent MRO provider authorised as a DOF by P&WC for both PW300 and PW500 engines. Today, StandardAero has completed more than 4,450 in-shop MRO service events for PW300 and PW500 operators around the world.

“As StandardAero marks two decades of providing PW300 and PW500 MRO services to our business aviation operators, we acknowledge its consistent dedication to delivering high-quality service,” adds Marc Turcotte, director, service network, MRO engineering and quality at Pratt & Whitney Canada. “The company’s technical expertise has been helpful in maintaining the performance of our engines.”

Comprehensive MRO support for the PW305A/B and PW306A/C models takes place in Dallas, Texas, with hot section inspection and repair services in St Paul, Minnesota and line maintenance in Augusta, Georgia. StandardAero’s Gosport, UK facility is authorised to perform MRO for the PW307A, PW308A and PW308C engine models.

In addition, StandardAero provides comprehensive MRO support for the PW530A, PW535A/B/E and PW545A/B/C models in Dallas, Texas, plus hot section inspection and repair services in Washington, Pennsylvania; St Louis, Missouri; Belo Horizonte, Brazil; and Gosport, UK. StandardAero’s engine mobile service team (MST) supports both PW300 and PW500 operators with on-site support globally.

“What makes StandardAero the unique choice for PW300 and PW500 engine service is our depth of expertise and breadth of product support after servicing it for 20 years,” says Joe Capra, vice president of commercial engine programmes. “We look forward to supporting these operators for many years to come.”
