Global business aviation company VistaJet has continued its significant growth in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, with Japan emerging as a key market.
In the first nine months of 2024, VistaJet's private flight hours in the APAC area rose by 14 percent, with a notable 10 percent increase in Japan. While its number of flights in the region surged by 20 per cent, Japan specifically saw a 25 per cent rise. In the same period, VistaJet program memberships jumped by 15 per cent across APAC, and increased by a total 400 percent in Japan.
VistaJet has positioned itself as a leader in Japan's growing private aviation sector by providing flexible, high-quality travel solutions. The company’s ability to provide services through its global network facilitates convenient travel to its Japanese clients, connecting them to international business hubs like Hong Kong, Seoul, and Shanghai, alongside domestic routes to Hokkaido and Nagoya. Long-haul destinations such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Tbilisi also rank among the top 20 departure points from Japan, illustrating a growing demand for global connectivity.
Celebrating both its 20th anniversary and growth in the APAC area, the company recently showcased its flagship Bombardier Global 7500 aircraft in a static display in an exclusive event at Tokyo's Haneda Airport. VistaJet holds the largest fleet of Bombardier Global 7500s in the world, which are capable of flying non-stop for up to 17 hours while offering luxurious comfort, making the aircraft a popular choice among high-profile clients.
Ian Moore, chief commercial officer at VistaJet, says: “Japan represents a dynamic and evolving market for private aviation, and we're proud to be leading the way with an asset-free solution that redefines business and luxury travel. The Global 7500 is a particularly popular aircraft type for the region, for its comfort and capability for point-to-point transatlantic travel, especially with big corporations. We are pleased to have the opportunity to showcase the exceptional experience we provide, combining state-of-the-art technology with unmatched service. We're excited to bring this unparalleled jet to all travellers in Japan.”
Japan has lately emerged as a significant player in the Asia Pacific business aviation world, driven by its robust economy and an increasing number of ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs). Recent reports indicate that Japan housed 21,710 UHNWIs in 2023, with cities such as Tokyo and Osaka recognised as significant centi-millionaire hotspots with projected wealth growth rates exceeding 50% by 2040. This surge in wealth, coupled with the growing demand for efficient travel, has driven the expansion of business aviation across Japan.
