HeliSpeed, a UK provider of helicopter pilot services and training solutions, has been formally approved by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to offer Initial Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) training, highlighting the company’s commitment to improving pilot training standards and operational safety within the aviation industry.
The newly approved training programme utilises HeliSpeed's cutting-edge FSTD II MCC simulator, which allows for immersive training. Designed to mirror the complexities of real-world night vision goggle (NVG) operations, the simulator incorporates advanced visual systems, precise cockpit configurations and dynamic terrain modelling to prepare pilots for the unique challenges associated with night-time missions.
UK CAA approval comes as official recognition of HeliSpeed's ability to deliver high-quality training programmes. The Initial NVG training is tailored to meet the needs of both civilian and military personnel, and is being offered at the company's Blackpool, UK headquarters.
Geoff Packer, HeliSpeed CEO, says: “This approval marks a significant milestone for HeliSpeed. It reinforces our position as an industry leader in helicopter training solutions and demonstrates our capability to meet the highest regulatory standards. The use of our FSTD II MCC simulator for NVIS/NVG training will not only enhance the skill set of pilots but also contribute to the overall safety of night operations worldwide. The NVIS training programme is open to independent pilots seeking to enhance their skills, broaden their operational capabilities and increase their appeal to prospective employers in a competitive aviation market.”
