US broker New Flight Charters has seen a 72.3 per cent year-on-year increase for October, more than twice that of the Part 135 charter industry generally, and a 68.9 per cent increase over 2019 according to TraqPak data released by ARGUS International.
The company attributes these increases in part to its full industry aircraft availability, which is not limited by a defined fleet or specific operator arrangements but extends to 2,722 charter jets in the US plus 778 executive turboprops for economical regional travel. "When demand is outpacing supply, having wide availability of vetted quality aircraft and operators in every corner of the country for our clients is key," says president Rick Colson.
For October, light jets (+171.4 per cent) and midsize jets (+76.9 per cent) posted the largest increases while super-midsize and heavy jets combined (+10.1 per cent) were more modest, as demand clearly moved up the scale from charter turboprops (-40.0 per cent).
For 2021 year-to-date charter demand has also moved generally up the aircraft scale. Light and midsize jets climbed 44 per cent and 39.7 per cent respectively, while super-midsize and heavy jets combined climbed a steady 6.5 per cent and turboprops dropped by 19.2 per cent.
