Ethiopian aviation services company Krimson has appointed Getahun Seifeselassie as flight operations supervisor. The new position has been created in response to Krimson's continued growth in Ethiopia and the east Africa region. A rise in demand for local ground handling in Ethiopia, the corresponding increased demand for overflight permissions since the opening of Eritrean airspace and the growth in requests for trip planning services across east Africa from international and intra-continental clients have all been decisive factors.
Seifeselassie, who will report to Krimson MD and founder Dawit Lemma, will be responsible for developing and filing flight plans, performing briefings for crew and passengers and sourcing the necessary overflight and landing permits at African airports. The role also involves the arrangement of ground handling services including fuelling, catering, accommodation and ground transport services.
“The flight operations supervisor provides a service which is vital to the safe, orderly and expeditious operation of aircraft,” says Lemma. “We looked for a motivated individual able to deliver results in an evolving and dynamic environment, who understands the particular operational systems of Ethiopian aviation, and who could assist in evolving the company in an exciting period of growth. We're delighted to have found that person in Getahun.”
Seifeselassie served as an air traffic controller at Addis Ababa Bole International airport for 14 years and worked for the Ethiopian CAA in a variety of roles including trip support and air traffic management.
He says: “I'm very pleased to join Krimson at such an important time for aviation in this region. We are seeing marked growth in the need for reliable ground services from intra-continental and global aircraft operators. Our local knowledge combined with our international outlook positions us well to serve the differing needs of our varied client base. I'm looking forward to working closely with Dawit to generate more business and develop the company further.”
