Cirrus Aircraft has launched the G2, the next generation of the Vision Jet. The upgraded version of the world's first single-engine personal jet features increases in cruise altitude, speed and range and the newly-upgraded Perspective Touch+ by Garmin flight deck. Technological innovations include a category-first autothrottle and Flight Stream connectivity while new executive seats, further noise reduction and a passenger productivity console are some of the G2's numerous cabin upgrades.
“The Cirrus Aircraft story is one of relentless innovation,” says Pat Waddick, president, innovation and operations. “Much like the last twenty years of re-imagining the SR Series with constant improvements to performance, safety and comfort, the G2 Vision Jet is the culmination of that same spirit of innovation. This aircraft is yet another game-changer in personal aviation and it's made possible by the world-class team we have at Cirrus Aircraft.”
The G2 Vision Jet goes higher, faster and farther than its predecessor. An expanded flight envelope to Flight Level 310 (31,000 ft) enables it to reach to Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) flight levels, in turn increasing the Vision Jet's range to over 1,200nm. On a typical mission, the G2 can carry an additional 150 lbs on an 800 nm mission and push top cruise speed above 300 kts.
The G2 Vision Jet introduces the Perspective Touch+ advanced flight deck by Garmin, which features new hardware, faster processing speeds and greater screen resolution. Typically found on high-end business jets and commercial transport aircraft, autothrottle is also available on the G2. This technology integrates with the autopilot and can automatically adjust the aircraft's speed for each phase of flight, reducing workload and giving the pilot more time to focus on other tasks.
Additional Flight Stream capabilities simplify the pilot's experience by connecting their personal mobile device and the flight deck, enabling a range of wireless enhancements including flight plan transfers, database updates and text messaging.
Collectively, these new G2 features add to the capabilities of the Vision Jet flight deck including 3D Synthetic Vision, SurfaceWatch, integrated crew alerting, datalink weather, active weather radar, ADS-B, satellite communications and system synoptics. The addition of upgraded intelligent batteries from True Blue Power is designed to deliver improved cold start capabilities.
In the cabin a new executive seating configuration features two artisan-crafted second row seats and an all-new centre console with stow-away tables while passenger comfort has been enhanced with newly-developed noise reduction features.
Passengers have access to USB and 110V power outlets, as well as a video monitor that extends from its flush mount overhead to deliver a range of display and entertainment options from any device. While the family seating configuration offers room for five adults and two children, each cabin seat is modular and can be quickly and easily repositioned or removed by the pilot, offering the added flexibility of more than 25 possible seating configurations.
The Vision Jet received FAA certification in 2016 and was awarded the Robert J. Collier Trophy aeronautics award in 2018.
Approaching 100 customer deliveries around the world, Vision Jet owners have access to JetStream, an ownership programme, which includes the award-winning Williams International TAP Blue turbine engine coverage, airframe and avionics maintenance, normal wear item replacements and recurrent pilot training.
Cirrus will begin deliveries of the G2 Vision Jet this month.
