German composite propeller manufacturer MT-Propeller Entwicklung has received FAA STC SA3959NY for the next generation five-blade Quiet Fan Jet scimitar composite propeller MTV-27-1-E-C-F-R(P)/CFR245-55a on the Cessna 208 and 208B Blackhawk with Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A and Pratt & Whitney PT6A-140 engines.

This installation is also supplemental type certified under EASA STC 10058942 Rev 1 and ANAC Brazil STC 10058942 Rev 1.

MT-Propeller vice president Martin Albrecht lists the products advantages. It gives almost vibration free propeller operation; the bonded-on nickel alloy leading edge gives erosion protection for the blades; performance is equal, if not improved; blade life is unlimited; there is significant inside and outside noise reduction; increased ground clearance means less blade tip erosion; FOD repairable blades; 200 ft shorter take-off distance; and three kts cruise speed increase.

MT-Propeller manufactures 30 propeller models from two-blade to seven-blade hydraulically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 5000hp, and two-blade to four-blade electrically controlled variable pitch propellers for engines producing up to 350hp as well as two blade fixed pitch propellers.

The high performance, light weight and durable MT-Propellers can be used on aircraft with piston engines and propeller turbines, and can be developed for nearly every aircraft type. Fulfilling the highest certification requirements they are also supplemental type certified on Part 25 aircraft.

MT-Propeller is the holder of over 210 STCs worldwide and the OEM supplier for more than 90 per cent of the European aircraft industry as well as 30 per cent of the US aircraft industry. 20,000 propeller systems with more than 70,000 blades are in service.
