Med-Trans and Air Evac, part of Air Medical Group Holdings (AMGH), are assisting the recovery effort in the wake of Hurricane Michael by sending two helicopters with medical supplies.
“We are committed to helping support the communities and the patients who were in the path of this catastrophic hurricane," says AMGH president and CEO Fred Buttrell. "Helping these communities will not impact our day-to-day ability to provide timely medical responses for all the communities we serve." He anticipates that crews will be on a seven to 14-day activation, but adds that this might change as as the situation develops. Crews will remain in place as long as needed, and will work under the guidance of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other state and local EMS agencies.
“When disasters of the magnitude of Hurricane Michael occur, we appreciate the support of all the EMS agencies who come together to work tirelessly on behalf of the affected communities," adds American Medical Response (AMR) CEO Ted Van Horne. "All the teams from AMGH were embedded with us during Hurricane Florence and now we have engaged them again to help with Michael."
AMR, a unit of Global Medical Response and sister division of AMGH, has a national agreement with FEMA to provide ground ambulance, air ambulance, paratransit services and non-ambulance EMS personnel to supplement the federal and military response to a disaster, an act of terrorism or any other public health emergency.
