Press Release
Issued by Embraer.
May 13, 2012
Embraer has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for the new Traffic Collision Avoidance System II (TCAS II) Version 7.1 for its entire portfolio of in-service executive jets including the entry-level Phenom 100 and light Phenom 300, the super mid-size Legacy 600, the large Legacy 650 and the ultra- large Lineage 1000 executive jets.
The certification adopts changes made to TCAS II Version 7.0 and will enhance safety by improving the reversal logic of TCAS II to ensure that reversal Resolution Advisories (RAs) are triggered in certain situations where two aircraft are climbing or descending simultaneously or in encounters in which the aircraft remain within 100 vertical feet of each other. Changes also include a solution to the "Adjust Vertical Speed, Adjust" (AVSA) issue to assist pilots to correctly respond to the AVSA advisories, by replacing them with a single "Level-Off" RA.
"This move is an important industry development," said Luciano Castro, Embraer Vice President – Programs – Executive Jets. "The TCAS II Version 7.1 adds another layer of safety by simplifying the list of aural warnings and improving the aircraft separation protection logic." The Company will issue a Service Bulletin (SB) to operators.
