The private and corporate charter sector in Russia is enjoying good business despite the coolness of diplomatic relations between Moscow and London and some other European governments.
Austria's JetAlliance is reporting brisk demand for its Citation XLS which has been readied for charter out of Moscow. And the U.K.'s Oxygen 4 says business demand, from tycoons as well as vips, is buoyant.
Oxygen 4 director Mark Green says: "I can confirm that demand from Russia is good and that we provided three private jets for a Russian businessman's recent party in Spain. The client, who took personal charge of the organisation of the aircraft through Oxygen 4, was determined that his guests were to arrive, party and enjoy everything in top style."
The postponement of the EU-Russia Aviation Summit in Moscow came, for many, at an inconvenient time when Moscow had just announced huge investment in resurrecting its aviation industry and companies from the EU were working to forge joint ventures with Russian counterparts. However, Farnborough International Airshow reports: "Interest from Russian companies has been phenomenal."
Dozens of companies have joined, or expressed interest in joining, the United Business Aviation Association. "UBAA aims to positively influence Russian business aviation law and regulations," the organisation says. "Rising membership shows that the Russian business aviation community is ready to join and consolidate its energies."
