Air charter broker Ascent Jet has launched an e-commerce web site that enables clients to book flights direct by credit card. Carl deVerteuil, md, says: "I don't think this has been done before and it is a bit of an adventure. Clients can find an aircraft and book it online themselves or telephone and be talked through the online process."
The system incorporates the search and XQuote technology of the CharterX network. "Major credit cards are accepted and anyone can purchase a charter trip online without having to call for a quote, if that's the option preferred," says deVerteuil. "Charter buyers can track the progress of their flights. An email is sent to the charter purchaser confirming the charter operator's name, aircraft type and any special requests that were made during the booking process."
Ascent Jet, a Swiss company based near Geneva launched in October, plans to offer its services worldwide. "We already work with a large number of U.S.-based operators."
