Italian charter firm Topjet Executive will be taking delivery of a Hawker 850XP in December. It also plans to expand commercial charter business. President Dino Rasero says: "We chose the aircraft because, apart from the very good relationship that we have with Raytheon, we believe that the Hawker 850XP is the only real mid-size jet in the market. It has comfort in the cabin and a range of 2,700nm." He adds: "With the 850XP we will land on shorter runways than we do now with the Beechjet at almost double range!" There is also more room. "We see that passengers are demanding, always, more room in the cabin and in the lavatory." Rasero saysTop Jet is optimistic about the future and is hoping to grow its business by between 500 and 600 hours in the first year of operations of the Hawker 850XP. He says: "This is not just because of the actual flights of the new machine but because of its contribution to the fleet. Our fleet, with two light jets and a mid-size, will gain a better overhaul efficency. It will enable the 850XP to backup the flights of the two Beechjets in case of need, upgrading a valuable customer to a bigger cabin instead of giving it away to a third party aircraft. "We think that we will have a well balanced fleet." Top Jet, which has bought the 850XP, also owns two Beechjet 400A and a Vulcanair (Partenavia) P68. The two Beechjets are operated under a Sirio AOC. Rasero says: "We are now doing almost 1,200 hours per year with our jets and about 400/500 of third party charter using mainly Learjets and Citations in the light category and Excels and Hawker in the midsize one. We also make some charter flights with bigger airplanes such as Dornier 328 and ATR 42."
