ZeroAvia has agreed its first sale of a 600kW electric propulsion system (EPS) to Jetcruzer International, which will integrate the system into a testbed aircraft for the development of its Jetcruzer 500E. Delivery of the EPS unit is expected this spring.

ZeroAvia has secured more than 2,000 pre-orders for its full hydrogen-electric powertrains and recently launched a component offering to support electric air transport applications. The 600kW EPS, which includes a proprietary inverter and direct drive motor, has received an FAA G-1 issue paper outlining the certification basis.

The system will be produced at ZeroAvia’s newly established 136,000 sq ft Propulsion Center of Excellence in Everett, Washington. This facility will manufacture EPS units both for ZeroAvia’s own hydrogen-electric powertrains and for integration into OEM aircraft like the Jetcruzer 500E, a six-seat hydrogen-electric model targeting entry into service in 2028.

Jetcruzer International, which acquired the original Jetcruzer intellectual property in 2017, aims to advance sustainable aviation with its fully electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft. The Jetcruzer 500E is expected to be among the first type-certified aircraft to fly with an all-electric propulsion system.

ZeroAvia’s chief business officer Sergey Kiselev says: “It is exciting that our first sale of the 600kW EPS as a standalone unit will support a project with simultaneously a rich history and a bright future.”

Jetcruzer International CEO Victor Tao adds: “Sustainable aviation is the future and we are thrilled to take a leadership role in advancing this vision. Partnering with ZeroAvia reinforces our commitment to pioneering clean aviation solutions.”
