Saudi Arabia to gather Italian input on vertiport design
UrbanV and Cluster2 will support and build an AAM ecosystem in Cluster2’s airport network, in preparation for commercial eVTOL operations across the Kingdom.
UrbanV CEO Carlo Tursi (right) agrees to create an ecosystem for regulatory support, route evaluation, network planning, design and construction, vertiport management, terminal and airside operations in Saudi Arabia with Cluster2.

Italy-based vertiport network operator UrbanV and Cluster2, the airport operator managing 22 airports across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, are to support and build an AAM ecosystem in Cluster2’s airport network in preparation for commercial operations in the country.

They will conduct comprehensive feasibility studies to implement AAM solutions at airports managed by Cluster2, while ensuring compliance with GACA regulations, safety standards and environmental sustainability goals. The partnership also includes UrbanV transferring its AAM expertise, providing training programmes and technical knowledge, and cooperating with relevant parties.

Furthermore, the companies will launch initial pilot programmes for the introduction of eVTOL services for targeted applications such as medical emergencies, VIP transport and cargo logistics. These programmes will act as proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate the operational integration of AAM in real-world conditions.

CEO Carlo Tursi says: “At UrbanV, we aim to improve peoples’ lives by enabling a fast, efficient, safe and clean alternative to existing transport solutions for people and goods over short distances by air. We have the ambition to become a major global operator of vertiport networks, and we will be global pioneers in establishing some of the first AAM routes worldwide. We are excited to partner with Cluster2, a major player in the airport management space, and we look forward to exploring together with them the great potential of introducing advanced air mobility in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

Cluster2 CEO Eng Ali Masrahi adds: “We are pleased to sign this partnership, as we seek to have a presence and leadership in finding solutions for AAM in addition to creating an integrated ecosystem for our various airports in the Kingdom, while emphasising the application of environmental sustainability in all our airports.”
