FreeFlight integrates TCAS II with Dual Band ADS-B
This enhances the reliability and performance of collision avoidance systems, so that pilots can manage traffic information more efficiently and receive more precise and timely traffic alerts and resolution advisories.
The upgrade allows business aviation pilots to view precise information about surrounding aircraft, improving real-time decision-making and routing efficiencies.

FreeFlight Systems has enhanced its Dual Band ADS-B solution with the integration of TCAS II. This upgrade allows pilots to view precise information about surrounding aircraft, improving real-time decision-making and routing efficiencies. This is the first ADS-B In cockpit upgrade available to business aviation operators.

ADS-B In (Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast) provides accurate and comprehensive traffic data, including the position, velocity and identification of nearby aircraft. This real-time information supports better routing decisions, leading to fewer go-arounds and saving fuel and time.

Combining TCAS II (Traffic Collision Avoidance System) with ADS-B In enables hybrid surveillance, enhancing the reliability and performance of collision avoidance systems. With both systems integrated and displayed on the same cockpit interface, pilots can manage traffic information more efficiently and receive more precise and timely traffic alerts and resolution advisories, significantly reducing their workload and enhancing coordination, especially in busy airspace.

As a retrofit solution, the Dual Band offers a cost-effective way to upgrade older aircraft with the latest safety and efficiency technologies, ensuring compliance with modern air traffic management standards and extending the aircraft’s operational life.

“Our Dual Band ADS-B solution with TCAS II integration aligns with NextGen air transportation initiatives, ensuring aircraft are equipped for future air traffic management technologies,” says Behlul Poonawalla, vice president, products and services. “This upgrade significantly enhances safety and operational capabilities and prepares aircraft for the evolving demands of modern aviation.”

Attributes of the Integrated Dual Band ADS-B and TCAS II Solution:

- Prioritised safety: Flight crews can access vital information about surrounding aircraft and monitor air-to-air altitude, heading, speed and distance, enabling informed decision-making in dynamic airspace.

- Comprehensive weather and flight information: The Dual Band seamlessly integrates TCAS II, TIS-B, TAS and FIS-B, providing pilots with free access to essential weather products, including METARs, TAFs, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, NEXRAD (Regional and CONUS), NOTAMs, TFRs and winds and temperatures aloft, ensuring they are fully prepared for safe navigation.

- Seamless integration with in-flight applications: The Dual Band connects effortlessly with popular in-flight apps like ForeFlight, WingX Pro, iFly GPS, eKneeboard, Jeppesen FlightDeck, Avare and FlyQ EFB, enhancing cockpit data management.
