Nomad tasks GPMS and Precision with AS332 HUMS
Nomad’s Super Pumas are capable machines, but the conditions in which they operate take a toll on the aircraft. Precision worked closely with GPMS to simplify the system, reducing weight, cost and installation time.

Nomad Aviation has taken delivery of Foresight MX HUMS for its two AS332 Super Pumas from GPMS International in partnership with Oregon-based FAA repair station Precision Support Services.

For nearly 20 years, Nomad has provided heavy-lift helicopter capabilities throughout southeast Asia, with operations in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Expert in firefighting, construction projects and other utility missions, Nomad maximises the superior lifting power and flexibility of its AS332s.

“Our Super Pumas are extremely capable machines, but they operate in extremely challenging conditions,” says co-founder John Forsyth. “The intense humidity, coastal conditions and remote areas we operate in take a toll on the aircraft and our engineers. Like other AS332 operators, we removed the original HUMS on our aircraft many years ago due to weight, cost and obsolescence issues. When we heard that GPMS was working with Precision to install HUMS on all its AS332s, we were immediately interested in learning more.”

“We went out to witness first-hand GPMS’s development of the STC and just how powerful and easy Foresight MX is to use,” adds co-founder Garry Mahoney. “Precision’s an expert on the AS332 platform and worked closely with GPMS to simplify the system to reduce the weight, cost and installation time as much as possible. It was very impressive to see the collaboration and the results they produced.”

“We’re very proud to have supported the US Forest Service with our HUMS-equipped AS332s this summer,” says David Rath, group CEO of the Precision family of companies. “The STC process is always challenging, but the capabilities that Foresight provides have been appreciated by the entire team. We look forward to working with GPMS to expand Foresight’s capabilities, supporting Nomad’s installations and assisting other AS332 installations around the world.”

“AS332s are in high demand, and operators have been looking for a replacement HUMS solution for over a decade,” says Ronnie Ries, vice president of marketing at GPMS. “With Foresight MX, customers can enhance the safety of their operations, while gaining the predictive insights they need to reduce AOGs and the impacts of supply chain challenges. We’re thrilled to be able to deliver these benefits to Nomad Aviation.”
