The air ambulance division of Germany-based special mission operator FAI rent-a-jet has been nominated as one of three finalists in the Air Ambulance category of the International Travel & Health Insurance Journal (ITIJ) Awards 2024. This is the sixth time that FAI has been nominated and the nomination follows three award wins in 2012, 2020 and 2021.
The winner will be revealed at a ceremony in Vienna, Austria on 14 November, following the ITIC Global Conference.
Determined by an independent panel of judges, the awards recognise companies that go above and beyond to serve their customers and clients and drive forward positive change in the industry.
Volker Lemke, managing director, says: “We are very pleased to be nominated once again for this award, one of the most prestigious in this sector of the industry as we mark almost 35 years performing air ambulance activity. We thank the judges for recognising our achievements in air ambulance. We remain committed to our clients, outstanding service and medical excellence with 10 business jets equipped for medevac use.”
This latest nomination is testament to FAI Air Ambulance’s recent achievements in the sector, most notably its Commercial Airline Medical Escort (CAME) accreditation from the European Aeromedical Institute (EURAMI) for its Dubai-based medical escort service received in February. This followed FAI’s re-accreditation as an approved EURAMI provider in early 2023.
FAI’s air ambulance division was awarded the ‘Outstanding Sector Leadership and Growth Award’ in the Air Ambulance category at the MEA Business Achievement Awards in Dubai in July and scooped the Air Ambulance Company of the Year Award at the Middle East Aviation Awards in 2023.
FAI rent-a-jet has completed close to 800 air ambulance missions over the past 12 months and remains one of the world’s largest air ambulance jet operators. It’s air ambulance operation boasts a 10-strong fleet of Bombardier Learjet 60, Challenger 604 and Global Express aircraft, equipped with advanced medical technology to handle a wide range of air ambulance missions. This diversity allows FAI to tailor its services to the unique needs of each patient, ensuring the highest level of care during transport, which may include some of the most critical and challenging cases in the industry. FAI Air ambulance is supported by more than 70 part-time physicians, nurses and paramedics.
