Honeywell Ensemble is the first end-to-end digital maintenance solution for Honeywell business jet turbofan engines. The new offering is available through Honeywell’s propulsion Maintenance Service Plan (MSP) for engines, and it supports Honeywell’s alignment of its portfolio to three compelling megatrends, including automation and the future of aviation.
Honeywell Ensemble automatically downloads and transmits engine information to analyse and track engine condition after every flight in near-real time. The service can detect, analyse and proactively address potential issues with engines before they disrupt flights. It will also facilitate digital connections between operational data, engine build records, engine maintenance records and a digital engine logbook, which is now under development.
“Honeywell Ensemble allows operators to benefit from timely and unique insights about how engines are performing,” says Dave Marinick, president, engines and power systems. “The real-time insight provided by it will not only increase aircraft uptime and availability, but it will also give operators enhanced mission assurance and will ultimately provide a better passenger experience.”
Honeywell Ensemble works by first installing a wi-fi-enabled engine data gateway on an aircraft. The gateway then draws data from the engine and transmits it under a secure protocol to Honeywell Forge, a cloud-based data analytics platform. Honeywell Ensemble insights and alerts are available directly to operators via the Forge Engine Data Viewer and the Honeywell Ensemble mobile application. This new capability improves aircraft availability and automates mandated data reporting requirements that previously required manual entry, reducing the administrative burden on the operator.
By bolstering recent MSP customer portal enhancements that make access to customer information more convenient, Honeywell Ensemble improves the overall digital experience for operators protected by the Honeywell propulsion MSP. Additional features that work seamlessly with it will be integrated over coming months, including auto-billing, online contract renewal and Honeywell’s new digital engine logbook. The logbook will address another major pain point for flight departments by ensuring engine maintenance records are accurate, organised and up to date. It uses a secure web portal that makes it easy for flight departments to retain, track, view, update and retrieve maintenance records.
Data gathered by Honeywell Ensemble will be used to compute the monthly rebate customers can earn under the usage-based feature of Honeywell’s MSP programme, which allows operators to reduce their maintenance costs based on how the engines are being operated.
Honeywell Ensemble is now available for Bombardier Challenger 300, 350 and 3500 aircraft; Textron Longitude; and Embraer Legacy and Praetor models. In 2025, it will be expanded to other aircraft, including the Dassault Falcon 900A/B.
