Axis Flight Simulation has successfully qualified its Level-D Bombardier Challenger CL350 full flight simulator (FFS) for Aviation Academy Austria. The qualification marks its first Level-D CL350 FFS and will be the first of its kind to operate in mainland Europe.

The FFS is equipped with a Van Halteren motion system and RSi XT6 visual system, with a 200x45 field of view (FOV), as well as the Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics system. Optional features include Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), a Synthetic Vision System (SVS) and steep approach capability.

Achieving Level-D certification involved comprehensive flight testing conducted in collaboration with flight test campaign and flight data acquisition specialist Aeroset, during which flight data was gathered to ensure the highest standards of simulation accuracy.

Christian Theuermann, member of the executive board, says: “Qualifying our first Level-D CL350 FFS demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative, first-class training solutions. We are grateful for Aviation Academy Austria's trust in our capabilities, building a fully bespoke flight training device. We plan to add an auto-throttle to enable the academy's pilots to practise flying the new Bombardier Challenger 3500 aircraft, while using our CL350 FFS.”

Michael Holy, managing director, Aviation Academy Austria, adds: “We are pleased to present our customers with this training device, expanding our range of business pilot trainings. Our instructors all have practical experience on the aircraft type and can create real-life training scenarios which, thanks to the simulator's numerous functions and high degree of realism, will set new standards in Challenger CL350 pilot training.”
