The Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office has taken delivery of a Bell 412EPI. The unit, commonly referred to as MASU (Metropolitan Air Support Unit), will use its new Bell 412EPI to grow its public safety capabilities throughout New Mexico's most populous county.
“Bell is excited that MASU is expanding upon its aerial parapublic capabilities with the Bell 412EPI,” says Lane Evans, managing director, North America. “Combining its wide-cabin space and modern flight technology, the Bell 412EPI has proven its reputation as a multi-mission ready aircraft in the public safety field.”
Known for its cutting-edge response rates, MASU frequently adds to the capabilities of local public safety agencies, including local law enforcement and fire departments, during emergencies. With the recent delivery of its Bell 412EPI, MASU plans to increase its public safety presence through using the advanced capabilities of the aircraft with the goal of providing a sense of safety and well-being to all that it serves.
“Safety and efficiency in response operations are paramount to the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. With the integration of the Bell 412EPI into our Metro Air Support Unit, we are enhancing our capability to manage emergencies effectively and significantly improving our service to the community,” states Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen. “This aircraft represents a leap forward in our public safety efforts, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to support our mission.”
With 21st century flight technology, the Bell 412EPI offers high-resolution maps and terrain data on four displays, allowing pilots to navigate in challenging environments more efficiently. This multi-mission ready aircraft has the capacity to seat up to 14 passengers, allowing for crews to include essential medical and law enforcement equipment needed for emergency missions.
To date, more than 54 per cent of the Bell 412 global fleet are involved in parapublic and military missions worldwide.
