Signature Aviation has celebrated the renovation of its Edinburgh location with a grand opening attended by guests including brokers, trip planners, customers, tenants, contractors, suppliers and representatives from the Edinburgh Airport Authority, which supported the project throughout the pandemic. The weather was perfect, with blue skies and sunshine, allowing guests to enjoy the festivities indoors and on the patio. A piper welcomed guests onto the red carpet, followed by tours of the facilities, VIP suites, a conference room and a fully stocked bar with tea and coffee. The event also featured a static display of the self-sufficient GSE FBO and fuel trucks.

Signature Aviation's Edinburgh location holds significant importance as a key airport in Scotland and within its global network. Situated in the capital city of Scotland, the airport attracts tourists, businesses, medical professionals and students from world-class universities. As the general aviation hub of Scotland, Signature Aviation has invested substantially in the FBO and security screening equipment. A CT3 X-ray machine upgrade is also planned for early 2024. The spacious facility offers stunning views of the airfield, with a discreet entrance for VIP customers and crew.

Signature managing director John-Angus Smith says: “We are delighted to officially open our purpose-built FBO in Edinburgh, offering a full suite of handling services to our business and general aviation customers. We are looking forward to a successful partnership with Edinburgh airport as we grow our business in Scotland and the UK.”

The dedicated 6,497 sqm GA ramp allows Signature Aviation to handle aircraft of all sizes, from King Airs to A330s, catering to charter, private, medical and military customers. The base is fully self-sufficient, equipped with its own GSE, including fuel bowsers, push-back tugs, steps, ground power units, belt loaders and facilities for toilets and water. The company is also making strides in sustainability by transitioning to electric vehicles for its CSR fleet.

Excitingly, Signature Aviation's Edinburgh location is ready to launch its Elite Class product, enabling customers to utilise the facility for both arrival and departure for their commercial flights. Discussions with airlines are already underway to ensure a successful launch.
