Construction of London Biggin Hill airport's hotel The Landing has reached a significant milestone with a topping out ceremony held on site.
This stage celebrates the building becoming watertight and work now moving inside to progress the internal fit out of the new 56 bedroom, four star hotel.
The Landing general manager Steven Thorne-Farrar says: “The Landing hotel is nearing completion, and our thanks go to the excellent construction team, Barnes Construction, Powell Dobson, Russell Doughty and Superstructures, for delivering such a beautiful building. We can now move on to the next phase of fitting out the hotel, working with local suppliers and interior designers to bring our vision to life.”
Barnes Construction joint managing director Bob Steward adds: “We are pleased with the way construction is progressing, and now the roof insulation and membrane are complete, making the building watertight, work can start in earnest on the internal aspects. It also means we can move on to install the roof plant for building services, which includes PV panels.”
The hotel is situated at the end of the runway, offering views over the airport from the lounge, bar and restaurant, aptly named The Approach and located on the first floor. The Landing is due to open in January 2023.
