The design team from aviation consultancy Altea has been listed as one of the Robb Report's award winners for 'Best of the Best in Aviation 2022' for its concept private jet cabin. The 'privacy inside a private jet' concept was designed for the Bombardier Global 7500, and is also compatible with Bombardier's Global 8000 as it shares the same airframe.
Altea founding partner and design specialist Robin Dunlop says: “It really makes a difference getting not just industry recognition, but a wider more diverse acknowledgement of our work and expertise. We are delighted to win such a prestigious award.”
The company says its innovative design was seen as a welcome alternative to the corporate, sterile look of many jets, and was unveiled to coincide with the Global 7500 tour earlier this year. It adopted a free-thinking brief to consider cool spaces to enjoy, break-out areas to interact and personal zones to deal with the typical private jet seating hierarchy conundrum. Its concept is aimed at the younger customer and offers a relaxed air of familiarity for total immersion in 'my space'.
Inspired by the zeitgeist of the 1950s with the birth of industrial design and mid-century Scandinavian aesthetics, it boasts natural larch wood and vegan leathers, and blends quality engineering and attractive aesthetics with considerations for the best maintenance, the best materials, the best assembly and design for manufacture.
“We continuously research sustainability in luxury interiors. We look to alternative markets such as furniture production, automotive interiors and innovation with 'new' sustainable materials for inspiration and knowledge,” says Dunlop. “Our design team hope to one day make the concept a reality.”
Robb Report has been running the 'Best of the Best' Awards for 34 years. It is considered an accolade in luxury, highlighting products and experiences of the last 12 months that truly stand out.
