Airways Aviation, the privately owned group of aviation academies, has installed and is operating the first of a number of new Alsim AL42 FNPT II simulators at its academy in Montpellier, France.

“The introduction of the AL42, added to our existing Alsim simulator fleet, reinforces the established collaboration with Alsim in providing the best training experience. All our students can expect only the highest standard of training both in actual flight and in simulator training devices,” says Airways Aviation president Mauro Calvano.

The new AL42 simulator will also be utilised under a new Airways Aviation and CAE civil contract to train CAE students at their multi engine instrument rating (MEIR) phase of their ATPL training.

The state-of-the-art AL42 is the exact replica of the DA42 aircraft and has been added to the company's existing line up of five other simulators currently operating under the French ATO. Airways Aviation owns and operates the largest fleet of Diamond Aircraft in Europe and the largest privately owned Diamond fleet in the world.

“Airways Aviation has been in the process of rapidly scaling up its training operations and increasing capacity and capability, and we take great pride in being able to align and partner with CAE as the undisputed world best to deliver the top-end quality of training Airways Aviation has become globally recognised for. Alsim is a leader in providing ab Initio training solutions and its simulators are capable of allowing us to deliver the comprehensive and complete training programme required. Airways Aviation-ESMA has collaborated with Alsim for many years, and we forecast steady growth and further utilisation of the range of first class Alsim simulator products,” says founder and chairman Romy Hawatt.

Alsim sales account manager Nicolas Fabries adds: "It's been a great pleasure to collaborate with captain Mauro Calvano and his team for the last couple of months, and we are very proud of this new step in the relationship between Alsim and Airways Aviation. Being the owner of the largest Diamond fleet in Europe, Airways Aviation needed a Diamond simulator with the highest level of fidelity possible. Following a thorough market research, the AL42 came up as the best choice to meet its fast-growing training needs, and we want to thank it for its renewed confidence towards Alsim. We can't wait to see the first students flying in the sim."
