UK aeromedical charity Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust has appointed Andrew 'Alf' Evans as its new head of operations.

Evans comes from a military background, with extensive experience in aviation, operations and survival training. Most recently, he spent the last 11 years serving as head of operations at emergency disaster relief charity Shelterbox.

The charity's chief executive Tim Bunting says: “We are delighted to welcome Alf to the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust leadership team. Managing operations effectively is vital to keeping the charity running smoothly and our helicopter in the air, and we believe that Alf's experience will help us to keep flying and saving lives well into the future.”

“Working for Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust has always been the dream, and I feel like the culmination of my previous experience has been moving towards this point," Evans adds. “This charity is about helping people on the worst day of their life. And, when that happens, you are part of the team that's ready to come and make their worst day better. I can't imagine a better reason to wake up in the morning.”
