Non-destructive team joins APA
APA's commitment to innovation and the expansion of its aerospace capabilities in Queensland is reflected in the uptake of the All Sikorsky Australia team. Members have transitioned already.

Brisbane, Australia-based gas turbine engine MRO facility Asia Pacific Aerospace (APA) has confirmed the continuation of NDT services previously offered by the Sikorsky Australia non-destructive testing (NDT) unit.

As of 18 December, all five members of the former Sikorsky Australia team have transitioned to APA's Macarthur Avenue facility near Brisbane International airport. The facility has been upgraded to accommodate the advanced NDT methods now added to APA's capability: ultrasonic NDT, radiography NDT, eddy current NDT and infrared thermography. These new capabilities and facilities now make APA the most comprehensive NDT service provider in Australia.

“We look forward to what this team brings to APA, because what they do aligns with our quality standards of safety, service and skill,” says APA general manager Tony Cotroneo. “The transition has gone very well, with thanks to Sikorsky Australia, the team members and the APA transition team. We aimed to ensure there was no disruption to customer operations supplied by this valuable and important team, and this has been achieved. As we look forward, we are driven to expand the team's capability and promote their services within the aerospace sector in the Asia Pacific region.”

NDT manager and responsible Level III Ron Quirk echoes the vision for growing the NDT service. “We have had a long relationship with APA and see this move as a great fit for what we offer. I am looking forward to working with APA management to grow our market within the region.”
