For our Perspectives series, we talk to business aviation industry professionals who share with us their individual insights and offer a window into their world. This month's interviewee is Sam Towler, service delivery manager at Signum Aviation.
“I celebrated my five-year anniversary with Signum in August of this year, after starting as an operations controller and progressing to the company's first service delivery manager. This was achieved as a result of continued growth year on year, with new clients coming from across the globe to experience Signum's award-winning trip support. A key factor in this growth is our new Seattle office which was opened in November by our US team headed by Kyle Ferguson, regional vice president North America.
As service delivery manager, I oversee our client onboarding process amongst other responsibilities, so I am lucky enough to see first-hand the growth in our client base. As travel restrictions ease and our client base expands, onboarding is keeping me busy. It has also given me the opportunity to assess our onboarding workflow, and subsequently we are now in the beta testing phase of our new company portal which should be ready for the NBAA's Schedulers and Dispatchers conference in January. Although we continue to grow, we’ve always said we don’t want to be the biggest, we want to be the best and that is why we ensure that the team providing the operations support are top notch. We’ve got excellent people at Signum and we do exceptionally well with recruitment. Although cliche, it's like a second family with the Signum team.
I have just passed my first anniversary as a member of The ACA's NextGeneration group. It's been a great first year while we have built the foundations of the group and set expectations for ourselves and what we want to provide to The ACA as a community. My primary focus within the group is member interaction and development, we want to get more people involved with the NextGen group and make them aware of what it is that we are looking to do. When I first started with Signum, I was only 17 and I had never even thought about the business aviation industry until I applied for the job. The only group similar to the NextGen group was NBAA's Young Professional's; I have attended a few of their events when on business trips and the amount of talent in the under 40 age range is outstanding. It was that sort of environment and networking that made me really passionate about getting more people involved in the NextGen group and that is one of my big aims for 2022 as we roll out new networking events hosted by the NextGen group."
