Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, a subsidiary of Russian Helicopters, has supplied a Mi-8AMT multi-functional helicopter to the Kolyma Aviation State Unitary Enterprise under an agreement signed in February 2021.
This is the second helicopter supplied by the enterprise to the Kolyma Aviation State Unitary Enterprise; the first helicopter was delivered in December 2019. The Mi-8AMT helicopters manufactured for Kolyma Aviation will make it possible to update its existing fleet of aircraft and will contribute to the development of transport infrastructure in the remote regions of the far north of Russia.
“The use of the Mi-8AMT is planned in the entire spectrum of helicopter operations, which the Magadan region currently needs. The helicopter has an increased flight range and increased payload. Such a machine can solve a number of tasks, including transporting people and cargo, extinguishing fires, evacuating victims and providing medical care in hard-to-reach areas of the Kolyma region, including on the orders of air ambulance,” says Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant MD Alexei Kozlov.
The helicopter was purchased on lease under the air transport renovation programme and in order to increase the transport accessibility of the region.
The Mi-8AMT helicopter is equipped with TV3-117VM series engines, Safir 5K/G MI auxiliary power unit, enhanced transmission and advanced avionics. The helicopter's transport capabilities provide for the carriage of up to 22 passengers on folding seats, as well as the carriage of goods weighing up to four tons inside the cargo compartment or on an external sling. In addition, this helicopter has been modified for the installation of an onboard boom with an SLG-300 winch and medical modules.
The equipment of the helicopter allows pilots to fly in simple and difficult weather conditions. Helicopters of this model have already been tested in the harsh climatic conditions of Siberia, the Tomsk region and Magadan.
