BAN's World Gazetteer
United Arab EmiratesGama Aviation's FBO at Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates reports that it is breaking all records at the moment and that looks set to continue. Since its new strategic alignment to focus on defined core markets Gama's business aviation team, led by managing director Janine Tombs and with Tom Murphy heading the FBO services, has seen record volumes.
The Sharjah FBO's previous record volume month was April 2018, however Gama has already seen those levels eclipsed twice in 2021. March 2021 was 5% higher than the previous record and May bettered those figures by 20%. It is also looking like June 2021 will further raise the bar.
This confirms the widely held market view that demand is there and that there will be a condsiderable and ongoing growth in demand. According to the most recent WingXLive data the general market has seen growth figures of 67.5% PTD in flights, with 64% of that being in the business jet marketplace. The PTD flight growth in the Middle East is stated at 88.8%.
Tom Murphy, Gama Aviation's head of FBO services states "Our FBO's first half of 2021 is on track to generate a more than 70% increase in traffic compared to pre-pandemic volumes. COVID has brought a number of new business jet travellers to the market and that, along with operators broadening their FBO options, has produced fantastic results for our facility in Sharjah."
