AERO Friedrichshafen becomes latest show to push back
Around 700 exhibitors from 38 countries presented their products and services at AERO in 2019. Messe Friedrichshafen wants to build on this success with AERO 2022, which is scheduled for 27 to 30 April.
AERO 2022 will be all about the restart of the industry after the pandemic and offer a complete range for all areas of general aviation.

AERO, the global show for general aviation held each year in Friedrichshafen, Germany, will not take place this year. The event organiser Messe Friedrichshafen has taken a decision in view of the travel restrictions in Europe due to the COVID-19 pandemic and is now focusing on the upcoming trade shows.

Messe Friedrichshafen had already moved the original date of the envisaged AERO show from April to the summer at the beginning of this year. But despite the increasing number of vaccinations in Europe, it is currently foreseeable that AERO 2021 will not be allowed to take place from 14 to 17 July.

AERO division manager Roland Bosch and project manager Tobias Bretzel explains: “It was with a heavy heart that we made this decision to cancel the leading trade fair for general aviation for the second time. A decision at this point in time is right and fair. We are now creating planning security for our exhibitors, visitors and suppliers. The current pandemic does not currently allow us to hold a trade fair with this internationality. However, we are looking ahead, towards the European Rotors trade fair, which will and will take place in Cologne from 16 o 18 November in the direction of AERO 2022, which is now scheduled for 27 to 30 April 2022, to which we will again welcome the exhibitors and visitors in Friedrichshafen."

AERO 2022 will be all about the restart of the industry after the pandemic and offer a complete range for all areas of general aviation. Aircraft will be present, from civil drones to gliders, ultralight aircraft and gyrocopters, helicopters, travel and training aircraft with piston engines or propeller turbines to business jets. Sustainable aviation, new propulsion systems, state-of-the-art avionics, services and accessories for pilots are further focal points of the fair. These subject areas also take place in the AERO conferences, making Europe's largest general aviation event an important platform for knowledge exchange and advanced training.

In the next few months, AERO Friedrichshafen will also be presenting itself in regular intervals with digital content outside of the classic trade fair period. “This way we can maintain contact with our exhibitors, visitors and all networks until the trade fair in April 2022 and share the fascination of aviation with the industry all year round under #wearega and #aerofriedrichshafen,” Bretzel continues.

Around 700 exhibitors from 38 countries presented their products and services at the 28th AERO. Messe Friedrichshafen wants to build on this success with AERO 2022.
