UK FBO and ground support services company Weston Aviation has welcomed offshore helicopter specialist NHV Group to Cork airport for the commencement of a contract to support PSE Kinsale Energy with decommissioning gas production operations in the Celtic Sea.

Commencing in April, the contract operated by NHV Denmark will be operating the helicopter transfer flights with one AW139 helicopter from the Weston Aviation FBO and hangar facility, bringing personnel and crew to and from the Stena Spey drilling rig, located 50 km off the south coast of Cork.

Weston Aviation CEO Nick Weston says: ”We are delighted to welcome NHV Denmark to Cork airport and once again our location and facility have proven to be the perfect base for offshore helicopter operations. This is excellent news for Cork airport, which has been instrumental in working with us and NHV as we hopefully start to rebuild in 2021.”

NHV Denmark MD Lars Skov adds: “One of our largest challenges was the reduced timeline, which less than one month, and Weston Aviation and Cork airport have really shown their agility and flexibility to accommodate this success factor for us to start up. It is a pleasure work from an airport that understands the needs of offshore helicopter operations and its constant changes.”
