Maryland-based GrandView Aviation has acquired a Sikorsky S-76D helicopter. Its first mission was vital organ transportation, a new usage for the type. The S-76D provides GrandView Aviation with the ability to conduct reliable and safe IFR flying from Martin State airport near Baltimore, and the aircraft has increased range, expanding service throughout the US Northeast.
Managing partner Dan Naor comments: “We can now plan to conduct at least 150 missions a year, transporting organs and doctors from hospitals all over the Mid-Atlantic region to the Northeast, from Virginia to New York, and we can now carry up to eight passengers, although most missions will include four passengers, carrying an organ box for transplant missions.”
The S-76 helicopter is flown by 178 operators around the world in more than 40 countries on six continents, fulfilling its many missions in varied environmental conditions. The American-made, safe, reliable, quiet and smooth S-76D helicopter is designed to provide a substantial increase in performance, power, safety margin and value.
