FBO Riga business aviation centre at Riga International Airport in Latvia has installed Liquid Explosive Detection (LED) and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) security equipment for preflight screening of baggage, hold luggage and personal belongings of passengers. The move has been undertaken in accordance with the Regulation (EU) 2015/1998 of 5 November 2015, which lays down detailed measures for the implementation of the common basic standards on aviation security.
FBO Riga continues to invest in its infrastructure and services to meet current aviation requirements and provide more comfort to passengers. The installation of new security equipment will release the company from previously obligatory alternative security measures for baggage screening that required passengers' personal attendance. FBO Riga is the first and the only FBO in Latvia equipped with these detectors.
“The quality of services and the ability to find a fast track to getting any customer's issue resolved are the signature features of FBO Riga,” comments co-founder Roman Starkov. “We are investing a lot in our infrastructure in order to provide customers with the best ground handling services. The installation of this modern security equipment will make the preflight inspection procedures faster and more comfortable for passengers.”
Fellow co-owner Leonid Gorodnitski adds: “Before we had to request a special permit for alternative security measures for preflight screening of passengers and baggage. Now we are able to provide the security screening at FBO Riga, and what is most important, passengers are no longer required to be in person when inspecting their baggage. I am sure that our customers and partners will appreciate this advantage.”
Earlier in 2019, FBO Riga earned IS-BAH Stage II accreditation, becoming the only holder of this certificate in the Baltic States.
