Santiago-based Aviasur has plans to expand regionally, initially investing in facilities in Peru. The company feels that flight conditions in the region have been improving and there has been exponential growth in the private sector. It has also seen changes to market connectivity and technology along with airport infrastructure and trip support software, which makes getting permits and flight planning much easier in the region.

The FBO and maintenance company is also an exclusive authorised sales representative and authorised service facility for Textron Aviation in Chile. The majority of its aircraft are Cessnas and Beechcraft and are flown domestically for business or leisure. “It’s a big challenge for pilots to get out of Chile because they need to cross the Andes. This long and high mountain ridge creates challenging weather conditions, but also offers a stunning view every time,” says FBO operator supervisor Rodrigo Silva.

Aviasur is located next to the Arturo Merino Benítez International airport control tower. It has 600 sqm of international and domestic boarding rooms, catering, immigration services, a crew briefing room and rest area, a meeting room, underground car parking and three hangars totalling 4,850 sqm. It is also a certified member of Universal Weather & Aviation.
