Marubeni and JAL establish management company
Air charter is growing in popularity in Japan despite restrictions and limited infrastructure, so Japan Airlines and Marubeni are addressing the opportunities this offers; a new business jet company is born.

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Tokyo-headquartered sales and management business Marubeni have together established JAL Business Aviation, a company that aims to meet expanding demand in Japan. Its services will include the arrangement of charter flights, management of privately owned aircraft and provision of operational and concierge services, scheduling, crew and hangarage to business jet operators and customers.

Marubeni's Ryusuke Konto and JAL's Kiyoshi Iwaki will manage the new company from its base in Tokyo. In total, 150 million yen has been committed, with JAL becoming the major shareholder at 51 per cent of the capital allocation. Operations are expected to commence during the spring of 2019.

The two companies expect this joint venture to contribute toward the economic rejuvenation and development of Japan by offering services and products that will maximise customers' time spent traveling using JAL's worldwide network and Marubeni's business knowledge in the aviation field.

JAL, also known as Nikkō, is the flag carrier airline of Japan. It is headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo and its main hubs are Tokyo's Narita International airport and Tokyo International airport, as well as Osaka's Kansai International airport and Osaka International airport.
