South Africa's CFA selects Alsim ALX
The Central Flying Academy had its eye on an Alsim ALX ever since being introduced to the flight training device at Oshkosh 2017 in the USA. Its own sim arrives in December.
Alsim is to deliver an ALX Medium Jet to Central Flying Academy at Rand airport, South Africa. The device will support CFA's PPL, CPL and IR offering.

Alsim has sold an ALX Medium Jet simulator to South Africa's Rand airport based Central Flying Academy (CFA). The device, which will support its PPL, CPL and IR offering, will be delivered in December.

Designed and approved for ATPL, CPL/MCC, JOC, the ALX simulator offers up to four classes of aircraft from single engine piston, twin engine piston and twin turbine up to medium category twin jet (generic B737/A320).

“We selected this simulator because it answered all our needs and then some more," CFA's CEO Ian Stevens explains. "We see the EASA/FAA-compliant ALX as a perfect fit as it is an extension of the professional standards set by our training academy. Alsim, which is internationally recognised, has a large R&D department and is certain to remain at the forefront of the flight simulator market. Training and support are top notch and down time, if any, will be minor, as all parts and components are manufactured by Alsim and are not dependant on third parties. We eagerly await the delivery and invite the aviation industry to visit our new installation.”
