WFS to build fuel farms at La Rochelle after winning tender
La Rochelle is considered a regional hub for both commercial and business aviation. From April next year World Fuel Services will be the sole avgas and jet fuel supplier onsite, and will construct two fuel farms.

World Fuel Services (WFS) has won a tender with French airport Aéroport La Rochelle - Ile de Re to be its sole fuel supplier from April 2019.

To facilitate the contract, WFS will build two new fuel farms, one for avgas and the other for jet fuel, that meet the EU sustainability criteria expected in 2020. Construction work will begin in November and is scheduled for completion next March, at which point WFS will also provide training for La Rochelle's fuel operators and its Avcard will be accepted throughout the airport.

Director Mark Atherton comments: "Winning the La Rochelle tender is testament to our design and build engineering capabilities. As part of our bespoke solution, the two fuel farms will use state-of-the-art equipment and the expertise of our engineering team. Fit-for-purpose storage was a key component of Aéroport La Rochelle's future plans. We look forward to serving customers at this vital regional hub and to helping La Rochelle grow."

La Rochelle director Thomas Juin adds: “The arrival of World Fuel Services here is an important step for our future. The planned investments will give us the capacity and quality of installations that our ambition requires."
