Tyrol Air Ambulance (TAA), headquartered in Innsbruck, Austria, is working closely with Germany's Pediatric Air Ambulance (PAA) to provide enhanced intensive care transport for children. The collaboration has recently been finalised after successful equipment tests on the Citation and Gulfstream 100 types used by TAA.

Intensive care transport will be carried out jointly by the companies in future. TAA will offer both incubator and children's intensive care transport, expanding on its existing product portfolio of organ and single and double patient transports.

"In TAA we have found an experienced and international air ambulance partner," says PAA medical director Matthias Huebner.

TAA MD Manfred Helldoppler adds: "As more requirements need to be fulfilled for children's intensive care transport than for adult transport, it was important for us that we find a partner with the corresponding expertise. In PAA, we have found the ideal cooperation partner for this purpose and one that also shares our philosophy."

For joint assignments, TAA will deliver the aircraft and flight crew, while PAA will supply specialised medical crew for the children as well as the necessary equipment required in neonatology and children's intensive care medicine. Paediatricians will be selected from experienced specialists and consultants working at university hospitals, primarily Ludwig-Maximilians University Hospital in Munich, and nurses will typically hold a specialist qualification in paediatrics.
