IGS Ground Services, a ground handler with a presence at all four major airports in Iceland, says that despite some European and Middle East traffic, US operators are still the primary source of unscheduled handling business. “Most of the traffic consists of US operators crossing the Atlantic; it is mostly tech stops and fuel stops, but on occasion we will have the overnight stay when a business person has one or two meetings,” says divisional manager Gudmundur Olafsson.
"In terms of aircraft types we have seen everything that the aviation world has to offer. When it comes to business aircraft, I would say the Falcon and the Gulfstream would be the aircraft most regularly seen here. “We get some smaller aircraft but they are mostly associated with medical flights in Iceland. When it comes to private jets, the American operators are clearly the biggest market here, though we do get other clients through our work with Jetex and Universal World Fuel.”
