Saudi Arabian NasJet has added four aircraft to its managed fleet: a Gulfstream GV, Legacy 600, Gulfstream GIV and Twin Otter DHC-6. The company has also received approvals for its Part 145 repair stations from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands and the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and was recently awarded IS-BAO Stage 1.
“The aircraft additions enable us to have more charter capabilities under our belt; we now have a varied 24-strong fleet on our AOC,” says CCO Yosef Hafiz. “We are offering the Twin Otter on a programme based out of the Empty Quarter [an oil-rich desert territory] and are transporting passengers back and forth from one of the major cities to the Empty Quarter. The aircraft is also used for emergency evacuation and medical flights.”
The L600 is used on a shuttle service in conjunction with one of the operator's major clients, a well-known online platform. The partner company provides an annual membership scheme for their customers, which allows them to book a seat on a business jet, in this case one operated by NasJet. “We are one of the primary providers for this service,” says Hafiz. “A lot of people are familiar with this service but do not know who is actually operating the aircraft behind the scenes.
“As for the GIV and GV, they are privately managed for the same owner so they will not be available for charter. He has found that there are economies of scale to enjoy when utilising a company as large as us, and he is able to obtain discounts on fuel, maintenance, handling charges and full 24/7 support.”
