The government of Uganda has received a VIP configured Mi-171E helicopter from Russian Helicopters. The aircraft was delivered under the contract signed by Russian exporter Rosoboronexport in 2015.

The Mi-171E has a cabin designed for 12 passengers and is fitted with leather armchairs and wood furnishings. It has enhanced sound and vibration isolation, a modern multimedia system with widescreen displays, plus a wardrobe, food station, toilet and luggage compartment. Landing and unloading is made more convenient by folding ramp doors with stairs. Additionally, the helicopter has a lightweight MBKhU air conditioning system installed.

The current variant is a modernisation of the Mi-8 and has Russian certification as well as type certificate approval in many parts of Asia. At present it is operated in 30 countries worldwide.
