NHV of Ostend, Belgium, has established its base in Aberdeen and has taken on two H175 rotorcraft to enhance its fleet there. Having a presence in Aberdeen will enable NHV to serve its existing and future customers at a strategic helicopter hub. The heliport facility is located at the north east corner of Aberdeen Dyce airport, a short distance from the runways and requiring only a limited taxiing time.

In 2014, NHV was the worldwide launch customer of the H175 helicopter. Following this, one AW139 and four H175s were delivered to the operator in 2015 and a further four H175s are expected this year. This will equip NHV with a young and versatile fleet to combat difficult market conditions resulting from the recent drop in oil price.

“The opening of our Aberdeen base and the first Aberdeen-based contract with Chevron North Sea Limited started in January with two H175s,” says CEO Eric Van Hal. “These are strategically very important achievements which were only possible thanks to the commitment from all our stakeholders, our employees, our customers, our partners and our majority shareholder, Ardian.”

The NHV Aberdeen heliport complex comprises a 2,400 sqm hangar and offices, a passenger terminal with check in, x-ray, security, safety equipment storage and issue, and safety briefing rooms. The ground floor of the complex contains a general waiting area and on the upper floor is a dedicated passenger lounge. Catering facilities are provided by a local supplier.
