Noordzee Helicopters Vlaanderen (NHV) of Ostend, Belgium, has ordered six more twin engine EC175 helicopters, after initially placing an order for 10 in 2012. “Having experienced the EC175’s performance first-hand, we have full confidence in its capability to meet NHV’s operational needs and in Airbus Helicopters’ ability to deliver its commitments,” says the operator’s ceo Eric Van Hal.

“This second EC175 acquisition also continues our strategy of owning and operating a young fleet with the most modern systems, which enhances our mission capabilities and contributes to safe operations.”

The EC175 has been recently certified by EASA and NHV is a launch customer of the type. The helicopter has a Helionix avionics suite, PT6 engines, and is capable of a cruise speed of 165 knots. Likely deployment will be on missions ranging from oil and gas industry services to lift duties for harbour pilots, wind farm operators, governments and hospitals. Delivery of the first of these aircraft to NHV is scheduled for later this year.

The operator’s fleet also contains 17 Dauphins and EC145, that can be configured to perform SAR missions.
