IBAC's IS-BAO and IS-BAH safety standard programmes team with Dyami to offer Business Aviation Security Fundamentals Course

The International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) and its industry-leading safety standards, IS-BAO and IS-BAH, have collaborated with Dyami Security Intelligence to introduce the new Business Aviation Security Fundamentals course, which will take place September 10-11, 2024.

Geopolitical tensions have underscored the critical need for enhanced security measures in aviation. To address this, Dyami and the team from the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) and the International Standard for Business Aircraft Handling (IS-BAH) have developed a new live, virtual course designed to equip business aviation professionals with the essential tools to safeguard their operations.

In addition to learning about aircraft and passenger security, the course will cover threats from emerging conflict zones, climate activism and information security. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of effective risk-management strategies, integrating security practices into their organisational framework and mitigating these potential threats.

Eric Schouten is the course presenter, and founder and CEO of Dyami Security Intelligence. He previously worked for 13 years as an aviation intelligence liaison officer at the Dutch General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD). His experiences with espionage, terrorist plots and the MH17 disaster inspired him to create Dyami, aiming to make security and intelligence services accessible and affordable.

“It has been a pleasure working with the team at IBAC to develop this course for the business aviation community,” commented Eric Schouten. “Now more than ever, we need to equip our teams with insight, knowledge and tools to safeguard our operations, and I look forward to sharing this course with many aviation professionals.”

Andrew Karas, IS-BAO programme director, and Terry Yeomans, IS-BAH programme director look forward to introducing this course to registered organisations and to the global business aviation industry. “The course will assist with conforming to IS-BAO/IS-BAH international standards and provides further insight into the IS-BAO/IS-BAH security chapters. It will help build a foundation of organisational security and support incoming requirements for cybersecurity plans,” stated the IS-BAO/BAH directors.

To register for the September 10-11 live online course, which will comprise two four-hour sessions, please go to the IBAC website. Early bird discount ends August 28th. The course includes an exam with successful certificate of completion.
