Airshare has completed the acquisition of Wheels Up's aircraft management division. The deal brings approximately 90 aircraft to its aircraft management division, more than tripling the number of aircraft it manages and significantly increasing the number of aircraft available for charter within its managed fleet.
Over the past 23 years, Airshare has offered a full suite of private aviation solutions, including its revolutionary days-based fractional ownership and Embark jet cards, aircraft management, charter services and third-party maintenance. The acquisition follows the resignation of Wheels Up CEO and found Kenny Dichter, a falling share price and continuing losses for the company.
KC Ihlfeld has been appointed to lead Airshare's aircraft management division as SVP, aircraft management. KC was formerly SVP, aircraft management for Wheels Up. In addition to the fleet of aircraft, 316 new employees will join Airshare from Wheels Up, including pilots and staff from account management, owner services, flight control, maintenance, training and administration.
