Collins invests in Asia Pacific MRO capacity
Collins Aerospace is doubling the size of its MRO operations in Xiamen, China. This additional capacity will help bring faster turnaround times and pave the way for new product introductions and digital transformation.
Collins Aerospace expands MRO capacity in China and Malaysia.

Collins Aerospace is investing more than $27 million to nearly double the size of its MRO operations in Xiamen, China and quadruple the size of its MRO footprint in Selangor, Malaysia. This additional capacity will help bring faster turnaround times and more efficient service to its customers in the region.

“The Asia Pacific region is a key market for Collins, and these expansions represent our commitment to provide the best possible service to our regional customers,” says regional director, IATA III aftermarket operations Daven Tey. “Our customers are eager for in-region support for their growth platforms, and we'll now be able to bring even more critical MRO services to their door. This growth will also pave the way for new product introductions and digital transformation to improve our future operations, while boosting on-time delivery.”

In Xiamen, the company will invest more than $11 million to relocate its MRO operations to a new 80,000 sq ft facility. The expanded site will provide MRO services for multiple Collins products, including fuel control systems, engine vane actuators, helicopter rescue hoists, evacuation slides and avionics. The facility will support Chinese platforms like the ARJ21 and C919, as well as the B787, A350, A330neo, general aviation and rotary wing aircraft.

In Selangor, it will invest more than $16 million to relocate its MRO operations to a new 160,000 sq ft facility at Subang Aerotech Park. The site will support a variety of aircraft, including the B787, B777X, A320, A380, ATR 42 and ATR 72.

Both sites will also work closely with Collins Innovation Hub in Singapore to explore new ways to utilise advanced technologies to enhance repair flows and quality.
