Arthur Meerdink, appointed director of service, aviation Canada, will be responsible for running the business centre. In his new role, Meerdink will be responsible for establishing and developing CGM's business in Canada.

Insurance group Chubb has established an aviation business centre in Canada to further develop its domestic general aviation and non-major aviation operations.

The centre is part of a new regional focus in Canada for the Chubb Global Markets (CGM) aviation team, which includes Chubb's wholesale and specialist activities in the London market such as the company's Lloyd's platform. In partnership with brokers and clients, CGM offers tailormade solutions for the entire risk spectrum.

Arthur Meerdink, appointed director of service, aviation Canada, will be responsible for running the business centre. In his new role, Meerdink will be responsible for establishing and developing CGM's aviation business in Canada. He will report to Nigel Griffiths, regional director, general aviation, Chubb Global Markets, and Steven Lucas, head of major accounts segment, Canada region. He will be working out of the Toronto office.

Lucas says: “This new business centre allows us to leverage the global expertise of the CGM team to expand the risks we incur locally for our major account customers. I look forward to working with Arthur to continue to expand the reach of our industry."

David Slevin, head of aerospace solutions at Chubb Global Markets, adds: “I am delighted that Arthur is leading our new aviation business centre in Canada, designed to strengthen our current Canadian portfolio by leading the way in nationally beneficial business opportunities. His vast experience, technical skills and commercial know-how, as well as his knowledge of the local market, are undeniable assets for the development of CGM's aeronautical activities within this important and growing market.”

Meerdink has over 10 years of experience in the insurance industry and has held several leadership positions in the aviation and aerospace industry in Canada.
