JAL Business Aviation is finally launched
A little later than planned, JAL Business Aviation has commenced operations. The joint venture between JAL and Marubeni aims to meet growing charter demand in Japan.

Japan Airlines (JAL) and Tokyo-based general trading company Marubeni have launched a new business jet service company, JAL Business Aviation (JALBA). Established on 11 January, 2019, JALBA is now registered as an official business in the travel industry and will offer three services; charter flight arrangements, operational support and ground handling, and aircraft management.

For charter flight arrangement, JALBA will select the proper operator and organise the charter flight according to customer requests, arranging connections between overseas cities as well as flights outside and within Japan. It will also offer an escort service when connecting from a JAL scheduled flight to a chartered connection flight. JALBA customers will also be able to earn predetermined sector miles based on the charter flight.

JALBA will arrange ground handling and other operations-related services for flights at airports in Japan, and it will cooperate with Jet Aviation to arrange flight and crew coordination, hangar and maintenance service on behalf of the owner.

JAL offers a worldwide network to 406 cities with its codeshare partners and, together with Marubeni, will endeavour to improve the infrastructure in the business aviation field and contribute toward the economic-rejuvenation and development of Japan by offering services and products that will maximise the customer's time spent traveling.
