Cessna sells first Citation X in the Middle East

Cessna says it has fully recovered from the industry downturn experienced earlier in the decade and is reporting strong activity globally, particularly in the Middle East where it recently sold its first Citation X. The name of the customer has not been disclosed. "This has been an outstanding year for Cessna in the international arena," said Cessna chairman, president and ceo Jack Pelton.

Roman Augsburg hails Cessna arrival

Augusta Air has taken delivery of a Citation XLS. The charter operator acquired the aircraft in September and it began operations in October. The aircraft is based in Augsburg, Germany (25 nm west of Munich), a town founded by Caesar Augustus around 2,000 years ago. The XLS will operate all over Europe, and respond to particularly high demand for charter business emerging from Russia. The company also operates a Citation Excel and chose the XLS because its type-rated pilots can fly either aircraft.

Raytheon has certified its new Beechcraft Premier IA, just five months after its unveiling at EBACE in Geneva. Customer deliveries began in September.

Warsaw firm has high hopes

Poland-based operator Jet Service took delivery of a Challenger 300 aircraft on November 12, which it is operating privately until the company receives an AOC to begin commercial operations. The aircraft has already completed trips to the Middle East and Africa, explained director of flight operations Oskar Maliszewski.

'Exponential' growth in Middle East spurs Royal Jet to add BBJs

UAE-based luxury aircraft service provider Royal Jet has acquired two Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) and a Challenger 300, bringing its total fleet to seven aircraft. The company now has the the largest BBJ1 fleet in the world. The announcement was made at this year's Dubai Air Show.

Cirrus expands at the 'top end' of charter

Cirrus Aviation has announced ambitious expansion plans for the coming year. It is expecting the delivery of a Global XRS and an Embraer Legacy in December and January, followed by a Challenger 300 and a Learjet 40 in September 2006.

PremiAir wins P&WC approval

Blackbushe-based PremiAir Aircraft Engineering has been appointed as a recognised maintenance facility for Pratt & Whitney’s PT6A, PT6B and PW200 engine series. The company is also a certified installer of Altair Avionics’ SmartCycle+, ADAS+ and data transmission units for aircraft.

AeroMobile plans onboard mobile use in 2006

AeroMobile, a joint ARINC and Telenor partnership, aims to provide business jet passengers with access to inflight mobile phone use and broadband services by the end of 2006. The system will provide communication over the Inmarsat system already installed on many business aircraft.

Bell signs Chelton Flight Systems for 407 glass cockpit

Bell Helicopter has selected Chelton Flight Systems to provide the glass cockpit system for its 407 light single engine helicopter. It could also become responsible for equipment on the 206B JetRanger, 206L LongRanger and the new Bell 210.

Thales teams up with Sikorsky

Thales has been chosen by Sikorsky Aircraft to jointly develop a new cockpit for the S-76D helicopter, which is planned for delivery at the end of 2008.
